The Athletes

All my athletes for Iditarod are owned by Linwood Fiedler. For the last 3 years I have assisted him in training his race group for his run to Nome. This included daily training runs and camping trips as well as completing my qualifying races with this group of amazing dogs. This year I will be transitioning to a younger group of dogs lead by older and experienced race leaders in my bid to reach Nome. Thank you Linwood for this incredible opportunity!

The 23 dogs shown below are the team I am training this winter. Only 14 will be selected on March 2nd to run with me to Nome.

Bear
The one, the only, the Bear. The only dog that I own of the group of dogs I'm running. She probably will end up being the team mascot for the season, but she will be with me in spirit the whole way down the trail

This big lovable brute doesn't know the impact of his mass. This big man loves to jump all around while being hooked up. His favorite place is in the front of a team all by himself. If you put him with a partner, he spends the first 10 minutes of the run telling the other dog "ruff, ruff" (translate as you wish). Siblings with Piper and Otter.

Cooyan
One of the cajun pups I helped raise last summer on the glacier, I am ecstatic to be able to run this litter of yearlings. "Cooyan" means crazy in the cajun dialect and this little girl lives up to her name. As a puppy she was always the front of the puppy pack and wanting to wrestle her siblings. As she has matured she has mellowed out and now is all business in harness.

Ami
One of the cajun pups I helped raise, I am ecstatic to be able to run this litter of yearlings. Ami was a bit hesitant as a puppy, but has grown into a confidant yearling. She is nearly as big as Cajun and is very big for a female. Like her siblings she has a gorgeous gait, but she in particular has a gait that looks like she is floating across the snow as she runs.

Patot
One of the cajun pups I helped raise last summer on the glacier, I am ecstatic to be able to run this litter of yearlings. "Patot" means chunky in the cajun dialect and he was a chunky puppy. Cajun
One of the cajun pups I helped raise last summer on the glacier, I am ecstatic to be able to run this litter of yearlings. Cajun was the sweetest puppy. He was always climbing in my lap to cuddle. He now is a big, big boy, but is still really goofy and sweet. He has turned into a mischief maker, liking to escape and go visit and play with all the other dogs. So I like to call him my little Houdini.
